Condolences

Condolence From: Mike LaMar
Condolence: Another element of Dad's love of music was dance. During our years in Oklahoma, Mom and Dad joined The Tulsa International Folk Dancers. It was a local club that gathered on Friday nights to learn and practice the folk dances of various nationalities. Probably the best avenue of fun and companionship Dad and Mom shared. It was a close-knit group where they built several long-lasting friendships. In traditional folk costumes put together by Mom (see photo), they would perform with the group at various festivals, family camps, and even a TV appearance. Dad even purchased a top-notch Wollensak tape recorder to play the collections of songs mostly stored on large reel-to-reel tapes. Through their network of folk-dance friends (initiated when they met the groups leader, Dr. Tom Camp, when he stitched up a knuckle I split open in a school fist fight) they had many gatherings, and costume parties, as well as barbecues hanging out at the Tulsa "Yacht Club".

Those who knew dad later may not have pictured his dancing talents, showing off his natural rhythm and Fred Astaire-like footwork (no kidding) - head nodding, fingers snapping with arms outstretched like Zorba The Greek. Occasionally pushing the coffee table out of the way in living rooms to proudly perform for visiting family and friends. Although they tried to find similar groups in Overland Park, and even Omaha, none had the same magic and bonds that the Tulsa International Folk Dancers had. It was certainly a high point in his life, and leaves a lasting memory with those who witnessed it.

Condolence: I had the privilege of working with Warren for many years when he was with Mercury Instruments. Warren taught me so much including his passion for doing what was best for the customer. I think of him often and hope I can carry on his spirit by exemplifying so many of the things he taught me. Rest in peace Warren. My prayers are with you and your family.

Condolence From: John Rafferty
Condolence: I have worked in the natural gas industry for 32 years, and NEVER have I met anyone as talented as Warren. There will never be another like him. He was a throw back to a simpler time, where men like Warren served their customers beyond expectation, and did so with class. He was great at what he did, and we will miss him and his larger than life personality. May he rest in peace.

Condolence From: Jill James Cascone
Condolence: Mike, Chris, and Families, I am sorry for your loss. As many family members have said nothing beat my grandparent’s farm for some summer fun. I have fond memories of you and your cousins. Mom (Dixie) always had a soft spot for Warren. He was always teasing her. I’ll be thinking of you and remembering the arrival of the suburban, bridling of the horses and all the other mischief we got ourselves into. RIP Warren. Thanks for the memories. Hugs, Jill.

Condolence From: Katie Claus
Condolence: Warren was a one of a kind gentlemen. He always had to have the last word but also one of the greatest men I have ever known. Many times I look back on the DJ shows we use to put together, and the countless hours we use to listen to "And the Angels Sing." I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing but know he is with his "Wild Irish Rose," up in heaven singing away. I wish I could make it to the funeral but please know my prayers and thoughts are with you all. Katie Claus

Condolence From: Tracy A. Gromer
Condolence: My sincere condolences. Mom always spoke fondly of her cousin Warren and the fun they had growing up. It is comforting that he will join so many other beloved family members at the LaMar cemetery by the farm. My thoughts are with you all. Much love, Tracy.

Condolence From: Carla James
Condolence: I'll always remember cousin Warren from childhood experiences on Uncle Steve and Aunt Iola's farm outside of Elmo. Warren loved his short-legged, black dog, "Sarge," who was his great companion. Not too many years ago, I was happy to see Warren at a family reunion at Dixie and Wayne's. He was as outgoing and funny then as I remembered him when we were younger.

I wanted to let his family know he is well remembered and that I'm thinking of you all. Carla

Condolence: Please accept my sympathy on your loss. Warren was my mother's cousin, they were close from childhood, and Mom enjoyed Fran and Warren's friendship when they were all grown up. He will not be forgotten by family and friends. Kathy
