Obituary for Richard Zimmerman

Richard Zimmerman
Richard Zimmerman was born March 1, 1930 to Florence Busby Zimmerman and Christian Zimmerman on the family farm southwest of Maryville, Missouri. He passed away with family by his side on March 30, 2017 near his home in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

Richard grew up outside of Maryville with his twelve siblings. After serving in the United States Army, he married Alice Arbuckle on July 5, 1952. To them seven children were born. Richard was preceded in death by his brothers Norbert, John, Kenneth and Gerald, and sisters Christine Upschulte, Rita Parker, and Helen Bowers. He is also preceded by grandchildren Jay and Scott Distefano and Joe Gardiner. Richard is survived by his wife Alice Zimmerman, brothers Philip, Stephen, Charles, and Daniel, as well as his sister Esther Coffelt.

Other survivors include his children and spouses; Nancy (John Gardiner), Patricia (Ron Andersen), Barbara (Bob Kalisch), James Zimmerman (Susan), Jane (Robert Byers), Amy (Nick Steinauer), Mary Jo (Kelly McElhose). He was also blessed with twenty-five grandchildren, and twenty-four great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM, Sunday April 2, 2017, at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, MO.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 AM Monday, April 3, 2017, also at St. Gregory Church.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville. Graveside Services will be conducted by Missouri Military Honors and James Edward Gray American Legion Post #100.
